How To Quit Smoking Tips
We all know there’s hundreds of books and CDS on how to quit smoking and dozens of quit smoking tips and methods that involve and number of herbal remedies, pills and NRT patches, but here’s the method that worked for me when I finally decided that I wanted to quit smoking now.
1. There’s more to learning how to quit smoking now than just finding the latest fashionable stop smoking aids – you must to want to stop for good. If you’re main reason is not because you really want to, even with the best quit smoking tips you’re doomed to failure sooner or later.
2. Pick your time carefully. Ideally you need a three or four week period where the normal everyday routines of life (work, kids, school etc) are going to be less stressful. The summer break perhaps or even consider taking a one week holiday to get started. Stress is one of the biggest reasons we smoke – so finding a low-stress time to start is well worth the effort.
3. Cut out or greatly reduce alcohol. For smokers who drink, these two activities are very closely linked. Learning how to quit smoking now while still going to the bar for a few beers after work is making it a lot harder on you. Hold off for a week or so.
4. Get your mind on your side. A healthy mind creates a positive attitude. Start getting some extra exercise – join a gym and make sure you go 3 or 4 times a week, start running or get a bike and start cycling. Also make sure you’re eating a healthy diet – healthy doesn’t have to be boring.
5. Break a few old and bad habits. You can make a start right now by changing your routine. Starting an exercise routine and eating more healthily are great new habits to form. Also try reading instead of watching TV. The idea is to make the period that you start quitting smoking feel different from your life before hand.
6. Drink lots of water. The process your body goes through when you’re learning how to quit smoking make take some getting used to, and your lungs, liver and kidneys will be releasing a lot of toxins and chemicals back into your blood stream. These need to be flushed out of your system and drinking plenty of water will make sure this happens.
7. Tell your close friends and family. If they’re good friends they will want to help and support – and maybe even want learn your how to quit smoking tips as well. Personal support is definitely very beneficial when quitting smoking.
